With nearly 5,400 residents, Bowling Green is one of the largest cities in Pike County, Missouri, and it also serves as the county seat. This community was originally settled in 1819 and became the county seat in 1824. It was named for Bowling Green, Kentucky after being settled by immigrants from that state. This city is found at the junction between US Hwys 61 and 54, and US 54 links the city to Illinois, Jefferson City, and the Lake of the Ozarks. Bowling Green is also found about 85 miles northwest of St. Louis.
